By default the Samba files server is installed on Linux Mint. So just try to share files. 1. Set IP address to Linux Mint or get it from DHCP server. Heh, I just tried setting up one yesterday. It's easy - download server jar from their website, put it in a separate directory, launch it from terminal. It will create "eula.txt" in which you must set "true". Then launch server again, it will create other necessary files. To launch it without a terminal, write a script. The hardest part is over. Once it boots, Linux Mint will bring up a screen seen below. Linux Mint is designed to allow you to experiment with the system before your actually install it. This is called a “Live DVD” because it is not just an installer. In fact, it has all the apps that come installed with Linux Mint installed on the DVD or USB. Linux Mint 19 also has some extra softwares. Linux Mint 19 features a nice looking Cinnamon desktop environment. Linux Mint 19 also has images for MATE and XFCE desktop environment. Beta version of Linux Mint 19 is available for download at the time of this writing. Stable version should be released at the end of June according to Linux Mint
I can't say much about this version (v.4.0.8). But, I am very happy with server v.5.0.6 and sync client v.1.3beta2. I may soon give up using Unison. Probably the best Dropbox alternative, at this time. thanks!!
